Happy New Year everyone! A new year brings with it the opportunity to reflect on the past year and plan for the year ahead. As you look back on 2016, note not only your triumphs but your struggles as well. They will help you set your goals in 2017.
As for me, 2016 marked my 25th year working with horses. That's a quarter of a century! Every day I am grateful for the opportunities I have had to work alongside trainers I respect and admire, ride amazing horses that each teach me a little more about becoming the best possible horsewoman, and the simple fact that I get to spend my days doing something that brings me so much joy. 2016 marked the beginning of Nonpareil Equine Services. I have to express my appreciation for all of those who have helped me make it a success.
So what about 2017? I hope to spend more time building the business, building the blog. You can look forward to a more stuctured blog. I am a big believer in continuing education. Even though I've been riding for 25 years, there is still more to learn. There is always more to learn. In 2017, I hope to attend clinics with a few of my favorite trainers. I plan on adding monthly book reviews to the blog, reading a new book on training, teaching, or riding every month. I would love to ride in my first hunter derby this year. Even more, I want to help my students and their horses reach their potential and accomplish their own goals.
What are those goals? What do you want to accomplish? Cantering for the first time, competing in your first equitation class, moving up to the jumper ring, or maybe finding your first horse. This January we will put together our goals for the year, and a few smaller goals to keep us motivated and ever improving. Happy New Year. May 2017 be one of the best years yet!
