Horse Show Report: CUET Show April 22, 2017
What a beautiful day for a horse show! We are lucky to have such lovely weather here in North Carolina. Today was our second "home" show of the season. We host several Campbell University Equestrian Team Benefit Horse Shows over the course of the year at Saddletree Stables. The entire Saddletree Team performed very well today.
I had a few students riding in their very first horse show, including 6 year old Maddie, who rode our Misty pony and was wonderful! I admire such poise and focus in my young riders, and her effort paid off with two blue ribbons in her first ever horse show classes.
I had a couple seasoned horse show exhibitors too. Miss Nadia showed our lovely Beau for the first time and had a very good experience. And Miss Chloe's year of hard work with Lacy paid off with a championship in the Youth Division. They have become an absolutely beautiful combination.
Another student gaining experience was Miss Karlissa, on Lacy as well. They are just getting to know each other and our home horse shows are the perfect opportunity for that!
Even the big girls got to play in the show ring, as I showed my hopeful derby horse May for the first time, and our barn manager Karissa showed a young horse she's been working with.
To round out the day, Miss Madison and Maddie's mom Robin shared the ride on Piper for both of their first horse shows! Piper is a fan (and school barn) favorite. And they both did wonderful. Madison brought home great ribbons in a large Novice Division, and Robin championed the Adult Division so she could finally have the photo of herself on a horse with her show ribbons.
I am super proud of all of my riders, and forever grateful that I get to do this for a living. To think it is still only spring and the show season is just beginning!
